2003 279 Glastron

I have a 2003 279 glastron that has some play in the steering - i can move it 2 inches or so either way before the lower unit responds... any thoughts on the cause? Are there cables to adjust as part of the steering system?

Hi Glenman, I also have a glastron 2003 SX-195 and since I bought it 3 yrs ago I have always questioned the same play in my steering. It bugs me because I don't think it is right. I have asked numerous people and cannot get a good answer. Mine seems too be in the rack at the steering shaft but the dealer says these usually never wear out. I have checked the cable/ fittings and everything is tight but I can still move the steering wheel quite abit before lower unit moves. It is a real pain when you are going slow always having to jockey the wheel.
I wonder how similar your steering is to mine. Mine is a rack style hydraulic power assist. Let me know what you find out. Thanks
