Fuel Primer Solenoid Problem

I bought a '95 48 HP Evenrunde which has been sitting for a couple of years. It will crank and run with the fuel primer solenoid valve in the manual position (but floods and runs rich) but shuts down when the valve knob is moved to the run position. I have tested the solenoid and it works and cleaned the fuel lines to the solenoid. Could the problem be elsewhere?

Thanks. I suspected this but was hoping for a simpler solution. I thought about spraying cleaner in the carbs but I guess since it has been idle for 2 years I makes sense to rebuild them. Again, many thanks
