We live on a dead end street and for the last 22 years not a whole lot of trick or treaters but I think we set a record only 2 got them about 8:30 maybe the low turnout can be due to rain:confused:

we had about 15, accompanied by parents. which i think is a requirement in this world.
2 weeks ago, 5 miles away, a 7 year old girl was abducted, walking home from school. they found her a couple of days later in a land fill. some one had abused her, then threw her into a dumpster.

Noone was at my house last night. My family does a Trunk or Treat at our church as an outreach to our church neighborhood. They have done that for the last several years...

We have lived here for 10 years now. First year we got over 300. It has gradually dwindled down over the years as everyone's families grew up. We had less than 100 last night over a 45 minute period and then nothing. We came back in and watched the Maple Leafs lose again !!!

We had about 15.....the lowest amount ever.
Now i have a big bowl of M&Ms and candy bars to eat....

I guess its a sign of the times...every kid had parents with them.
Gone are the days of letting the kids go out alone.

Re: Trick or Treaters at your house?

We went trick or treating with a co-worker of mine in a town/neighborhood I had never been in before. It was fun, and my son (4 years old) enjoyed himself.
Maybe next year we'll actually trick or treat in our own neighborhood??

I have no idea if many kids came by our house, cause we weren't home. I do know that there was no obvious signs of "tricks" in my neighborhood. :)

We didn't have any and our neighborhood has kids, not only that we didn't even see one kid in a costume, Wife and I usually carve 2-3 pumpkins and she didn't even want to do it this year, Just isn't what it used to be, times have really changed and that's ashame.

We only had two knocks at the door, our neighbor has a little one and he was dressed as Sponge Bob, he was so funny, his costume was so cute, his arms came out from each side of the sponge, one hand holding the candy pot and the other reached for candy. After grabbing the candy he couldn't reach the pot to put the candy in...Muhahahaaa. The other treater was unknown. Yep, I'm forced to eat the Peanut-Butter Cups.....:D

Re: Trick or Treaters at your house?

We got about 4 sets of kids last night, all in great costumes. Most people here know each other so the kids go out alone. My knee-jerk reaction sometimes is one of shock, though, as one girl wasn't more than 7-8 years old and travelling alone (we don't have street lights here, so it gets dark). A couple of kids had auto-escorts while it was drizzling. What horrible timing on the rain, it was sunny all day, then began raining around 6pm. From the looks of the pillow case one girl was carrying, they didn't suffer in the candy department. I allowed them a handful of candy to ensure I didn't have leftovers ... let the parents pay for the dentist, so I don't have to ;)

Re: Trick or Treaters at your house?

Its been a "few" years since our boys went door to door but we have always carved a few pumpkins each year. This was the first time in 18 years we didn't have a pumpkin at our house. Kind of miss the tradition.

Only had 8 kids show up at the door last night. Have lived here for better part of 17 years and typically get 50-75 each year. Makes it easy knowing how much goodies to buy. Now this year we have 60+ bags of chips and chocolate bars left over. Rats, now I'm going to have to eat them ;):D.

Weather was warm (high 40's) and dry but very windy with gusts to 40mph. I think the H1N1 thing was a big factor this year. People are just afraid.

Re: Trick or Treaters at your house?

we had ONE family come by, and we live in a kid-friendly apt. complex. we went across the street to a nice housing track so our kids could trick or treat somewhere different. it was crazy, it was like a block party. they gave out free bbq chicken, and even had coolers of beer they were handing out!

I am guessing we ended up with 20 or so, definitely lower, but we weren't home much either, especially later.
