Re: Respray Outboard

The best way to do it is with a 2 part but that's not always in the budget.

Moeller Squirt Bomb paints are Acrylic Lacquer. With proper surface prep you can get a decent job. You'll want put on several thin coats and allow at least 30 minutes dry time between them. The can say's you can recoat immediately but don't. Wait at least a week and then sand the final coat with 600. Follow that with 3 light coats of clear acrylic lacquer and it will last. Be careful with the thickness of the clear, it is thin and will run easily.

Re: Respray Outboard

I find the Mariner Grey I buy in rattle cans at my Mercury Outboard dealer to be very good paint. I've chosen it to repaint a number of outboard motors (not all mariner) with very good results.
