use '87 120hp v4 trim on '78 85 v4? Experts I need your help!!

I have a 1978 evinrude 85 hp V4 with a dead trim setup. When you push the trim buttons the solenoid clicks but that's all. A guy locally has a 1987 120 hp V4 Evinrude for sale - can I swap his trim onto my motor? the 87 has engine problems but the trim is supposed to be good.

thanks for the help, that 85 is getting hard to pull outta the water!

Yes it will bolt up but you also will need the relay harnness off the 87 as the 1978-81 are 3 wire trim motors and the 82 and up are 2 wire.
