Do you go boating all year? Persoanlly I love the cool weather. The humidity plus Hot sun on the water during the middle of the summer make me know how an egg feels in a pot of boiling water.

a little hard to boat when there is a couple feet of water on any body of water within hundreds of miles!

boat went into storage 2 weeks ago, and of course it hit 80 degrees last weekend.

I wish!

I'm currently repowering my boat but when it's ready I'll be going out rain or shine.

Never heard of lakes drying up in the winter time. Must be a midwest thing? :D

Boat is mothballed for 7 months of the year up here in the great white north.

We won't be wet again until Mid May if we're lucky.

Coastal Virginia: most of them are used almost year round. Duck season ends in January and we winterize the club; open back up in late March but April is when we really get back to it. Small boats for water sports May-Sept. Fishing all fall thru Dec. 31. Not much reason to go out Feb-March but this year I will b/c I'm keeping one boat (new one) in the water and have to run it almost weekly to avoid ethanol poisoning.

I'm in South Florida so I can go boating all year round, but the water conditions are usually rough 90% of the time during Winter. I go out in 0-2, 2-4+ is not fun in my boat, can't fish, can't do water sports. I can put around the intercoastal waterways, but thats about it.

I'll run in anything but ice or high winds, but the conditions also dictate where I can go in a smaller boat. As the weather gets colder, the distance I go gets shorter. Pretty much, I can run from late Feb. to sometimes early Dec. depending on the weather. The remaining months are too cold and there's too much risk of freezing. It's also not much fun to fish when it's 20 degrees plus a 30 mph wind in your face. I do on occasion uncover the boat on nice days and make a short run but that's usually a rare occasion. Winter runs are usually just short trips to the closest lake or river for some quick freshwater fishing.

I know you're kidding around.. but our flood control reservoirs get drawn down to a point where it's difficult to launch if at all possible.

Does a nice job concentrating the shad, too. The bass get fat and a lot of the ones that don't get eaten die off from crowding... but that's for another forum...

Here on the coast there is no reason not to get out there all year. Some of the best fishing is in the winter months.

Yes. We trailer our bout south to FL for the winter and trailer it back north to western MD for the summer!

The poll didn't allow for that.

Ha!

Only if I could find a couple of snowmobilers to tow me across the lake.

Re: Do you use your boat 12 months a year?

it snows up hear and the lake freezes up. That doesn't mean I stop using it. I work on it every second I have (on the trailer) so that when the weather brakes, I can use it. That also means camping on it in the driveway with the kids.

We go out all year but the weather can be nasty in the winter and keep us home.
