guy brought this to me as it would not run right and he said never has since it was new. Why he didn't take it back to the dealer I don't know, but I found the intake was sucking air and did locate a parts manual online (should have bookmarked it). The intake was missing the oring that seals it off. Got a new oring and now it idles and runs okay except. There does not appear to be a spark advance on this motor. No connection from the throttle linkage to the spark like I am used to on older motors. The result I am seeing is if you advance the throttle too quickly it dies, but if I advance it ever so slowly then no problem. Any ideas?

Parts catalog is available at Elvin's website: http://www.internetoutboards.com/PartsCatalogMenu.htm

A service manual is available from any Tohatsu/Nissan dealer.

No, there isn't any mechanical spark advance on these; It's all electronic. These motors are almost indestructible.

Sounds like either the initial timing may be off, or, more likely, the power circuit in the carb is a bit lean. Also check the reeds.
