Hello Everyone
I just bought a 1993 30 hp Johnson ( model # VJ30ELETA) When we start it up we do not see any water coming out anywhere. There is a small hose coming out from under the cover but all that comes out of it is steam. I was told the water pump was replaced last year. Should there be water spraying out some where? I ran the motor for a couple minutes but got nervous and shut it off.

Thanks for any help

Re: tell tale

disconnect hose and blow it out. critters love to block them. the faster the rpms, the stronger the stream.

And if it still does not pump from there shut it off again just as quickly and post back.

If it really is steam you have a problem. Disconnect the hose from the block end and verify it is clear all the way through. If it wasn't blocked up, be extra cautious on restart. In fact, I'd suggest starting it in water rather than muffs, since muffs sometimes take a while to get water up to the telltale.
