1986 60hp VRO, where to hook up water gauge?

I'd like to install a water pressure gauge, I already have the gauge and tubing, but where do I hook it up on the motor? I was told there should be a nipple at the top of the head but I can't find anything... I assume teeing into the rubber hose for the tell-tale hole isn't an option since it's lower pressure? Do I need to drill & tap a hole to install a nipple?
