Good morning all, I've been seeing this boat on CR, owner wants $350, it's a 72 "Sea Trek". I link to some photo's http://s239.photobucket.com/albums/ff296/butch100_2007/?action=view&current=IMG00408.jpg, (deck), http://s239.photobucket.com/albums/ff296/butch100_2007/?action=view&current=IMG00407.jpg, motor, http://s239.photobucket.com/albums/ff296/butch100_2007/?action=view&current=IMG00405.jpg full. Ad states motor "needs plugs" and she doesn't know how many HP it is (looks like 50-70). Never seen this type of wood on a floor, looks like a planking setup of some type. Supposed to look at boat Sun., anyone familiar with this type of decking and what it might take to repair it? As for the motor I can probably forget about cranking it should I just turn the flywheel to see if it's not frozen up? Any input appreciated. Boats are getting so cheap around here latly I might just skip a fixeer-upper and spend $1000-$1500 for something less worn out. Thanks in advance..

Re: '15 Sea Trek

That motor is a V-4 and could be anything from 85-140 hp. The decking looks like it was not maintained and shows UV damage as a start. I would be curious to see if that decking is over the old deck.....it is certainly not what I would consider factory.

The V-4 has been painted??? and I would be seriously concerned on what is "below" the decking and the condition of the OB. $350 not a bad price but with an old boat with possible problems you are paying him to dispose of the problems.

Cheap but most likely not cheerful !!!!
You may end up spending an enormous amount of time and money on it to make the entire outfit seaworthy.

Well I'm gonna go by sunday anyway, this was on CL for $500 2 weeks ago with "needs new carpet" so who knows whats up with the floor. Any easy way to tell if the motor is seized up or not? how about a set of jumper cables??Thanks for the replies so far, owner mailed me back saying last time it was used was 6 months ago but it looks like a LOT longer than that. I noticed a fish finder and troller in there too so that would add to the value..
