I'm having a hard time finding the color that I want to use on my skiff.
I want a light teal color.
I can find the color in automotive paint because they can match it for me how ever I'd like.
But I can't find anywhere that will color match boat paint for me.
I want to use perfection, or awlgrip.
Or even Brightside.

I have a darker teal in a solvent based automotive basecoat paint.
If I mix it with white , it will become the color I want.
Will it have problems if I mix it into white boat paint?

I am a painter.
A very good one at that.
But I'm definitely not a chemist!

Thanks,
Eric

I would stick with mixing only the same brands together.

You can't use Awlgrip and Brightsides in the same sentence, Awlgrip is at the top of the list in long lasting durability, brightsides is at the other end of the scale.

You didn't mention if the products you want to mix are the same brand and series of product, if they are, then it may be possible to blend them together but you would still need to call the supplier or manufacturer and find out.

You cant pour enamels with lacquers,They don't like each other. Also acrylic enamel and enamel wont mix.I think most boat paint is epoxy. So I wont pour them together. Now you can try and shot something junk and toss it out in the weather for a few months just to see what happens

See thats the thing.

I don't mind buying Awlgrip.

I just need one quart kid to paint what I need.

It'll be like $130.
I did my buddies Robalo in Awlgrip we did the whole inside with two quart kits.
Once mixed it became a sprayable gallon.

I just need about two sprayable quarts.
But if I have to buy three different kits (ice blue, fighting lady yellow, and white) to make the color I want it would be way too much money for such a small skiff.

That's why I wondered if I can just buy one quart of white, then tint it with a solvent based PPG automotive basecoat.
