I change mine out every other year, and I don't bother trying to clean the old filter. So all you need to do is head down to NAPA and get a clear (paper) fuel filter and new hose. May need some new hose clamps too. When you get home make sure everything will fit then cut the old fuel line off of the fittings. Resist the urge to twist, pry and pull.
After installing the new line and filter be sure to tie it down in as many places as possible with small zip-ties. Boat motors are notorious for vibration.
