Yamaha prop shaft replacement

I have a 2005 Yamaha 200HP OX66 and somehow have bent the prop shaft. I have ordered a new one and seals and would like to replace it myself. I am very mechanical, but have never replaced a prop shaft. Is there something I should be aware of prior to pulling apart? Does anyone know where I can obtain a repair manual?

Re: Yamaha prop shaft replacement

Your going to need a manual and some special tools for this job. Pullers, measuring devices and what not as well as the proper shims.

JMO let a pro do it

as long as it is NOT a left hand case its very simple and really not much in the way of special tooling is needed.
best carrier puller I have found is from BRP.
you will need to pull the shift shaft so you will need that seal and oring as well.
no shimming no measuring.

Thanks for the input. Does BRP have a website?

Did you change the prop shaft? Was it pretty difficult? Did you take any pics?
