I have 1982 20 hp Mercury manual start, I would like to convert to electric start.
I've tried the internet, boat salvage yards, etc. I hate to buy another motor when I have a good motor. I too old to pull the rope, bad shoulder. Need help!

Thanks

Re: Starter for 20hp

I'm not exactly sure if you can put one on that motor but an easy way to find out would be look at the flywheel and see if it has teeth around the outside for the starter to grab if so most likely you can put one on there you would just need to get the starter, a seloniod, and a start button, oh and some wire to. If the fly wheel is smooth then most like you'd be better off trying to find a motor with electric start.
