I have a 200 HP mercury outboard. I changed the water pump according to the manual. The boat was still overheating. When I pulled the lower unit off again I noticed there was no seal on the top of the water pump housing. I purchased the seal but I am having a problem lining it up. I assume the seal goes on the pump first and the guide tube alignes the water tube into the seal. What holds the guide tube on the seal? Or does the seal go on the water tube first and somehow line up to the pump housing? Is it possible the water tube could be pushed up higher into the engine making it not long enough? If I pull down on the water tube will it come out of the engine? Please help? Thanks
