I just got a 14'(?)appleby waterbug boat and trailer for free, the trailer even came with brand new tires! It needs a little work, the live well is missing its cover and it is completly filthy. the po had stored it in a warehouse for the last 21 years so there is no rot. the question i have does any one have any information on this boat and maybe some pics? I looked around here and the internet but could not find anything. It seems there is some aluminum boats around but no fiberglass. thanks for any information y'all can give. Dan

Man! That was fast! I looked at the site and it didnt say anything about fiberglass boats. I wonder if it is the same company? Thanks for the reply.

An older friend of mine (who passed away) had a fiberglass Waterbug. I can check with his son and see if I can get some pictures and info on it. His son has told me stories of him and his dad going out in rough water with no problems. He said they were advertised as un-flipable. He did show me a picture of him standing on the rail with it in the water.

I have a 1971 Appleby fiberglass boat that is similar to yours just two feet shorter. This boat was left to rot in the backyard of a friend of mine. I rolled up my sleeves and managed to get her ship shape. I bought a 9.8 tohatsu and on a good day I can get it up to about 21 or 22 mph. The live well on mine was toast so I gutted that compartment and made it into a seat. If you would like to see a video or three it is on utube and if you type in 9.8 tohatsu they will come up. I live in Virginia and most of my time is spent on the Chicahominy river.
