No spark on mercruiser 3.0L

Hi
I hope you can help I have just bought a boat with an elec prob it has no spark well it does spark once or twice ocasionally when it wants, the guy i bought it from said he pulled the wire loom plug and a wire fell out so he thought he had found the problem so he cut the plug off and joined them the engine is a 1990 mercruiser with DDIS I dont think you can buy the replacement parts for DDIS so do you think i need to convert to EST if so HOW????????

What you need to do, is go up to the adults only sticky at the top of the forum and download the OEM service manual #13. There is information and wiring diagrams for both systems, so you can see what would have to be changed.
Depending on what the problem is, it may be cheaper to keep what you have and just fix the problem.
Then find the parts you need without the pressure of having to.
