Johnson 120 Rectifier test

Can anyone tell me how to test Rectifier-Rgltr AY,3-10 Johnson-Evinrude-OMC 0585192 on my 1991 Johnson model no. VJ120TLAIE ? It has 5 wires- Red,Violet,Gray,Yellow-Gray,and Yellow.I'm not getting a charge on the batt ,the tachometer is working but it seems erratic.

First, measure AC voltage across the yellows ... you should get > 30 VAC at fast idle. If under 20 VAC, stator or wiring to rectifier is NG. If stator is OK, then either rectifier or terminations and/or wiring is suspect. There are also diode checks for rectifier detailed in the OEM shop manual.

BTW, what motor are we talking about here?
