what kind of oil in this pump? is it self bleeding?

Also, does it matter which side each hose is hooked up to?

Yes...unless you don't mind the drive trimming up when you press down on the switch!

It is also self bleeding. You rune the drive up and down to its limits a few times. All of this is in the service manual.

ATF or motor oil work just fine.
