Will Alpha drive fit MR gimbal

Broke my MR outdrive today, and was wondering if an Alpha would fit the gimbal. My current setup is 1983 Merc 898/GM305 MR drive. Will an Alpha fit right on? I noticed that the SEI part number was the same for MR/Alpha.

I beleive the MR is a Alpha. you can put any alpha one gen 1 up there you can't put a alpha one gen II up there.

Yes, it will fit. The MR is just an early version of the Alpha I
