That is one part I have not needed to overhaul yet this spring on my trailer but I did price it just in case.<br />I was told to buy one that was rated for the weight of the boat plus a couple hundred pounds.<br />For me that was around 3000 pounds and that is about what you need given your rating of 2800#. <br />(Did that rating include a tank of gas, if not try the 3500 pound winch.) <br />If you are changing the winch, check the condition of the old cable or strap to see if you need that as well. A new cable or strap is cheap insurance considering your investment and those carry a weight rating as well.<br /><br />Straps / cables and winches are usually in stock at marinas or some automotive stores.
