I have a 1994 Johnson Strike king 150 and have poor idle and high fuel usage,
compression good , plugs new, power pack new, fuel filter new, no spitting of fuel back out of carbs, and no flooding over of fuel as I can see when idling, no hesitation, mid and top end runs fine, does not start hard
at idle is rough and can smell fuel , and uses fuel big time

have a look down throat of carbs whil running, you might see eccessive fuel going into motor, if so, will be main float needle faulty, stuck open.

thanks for the advise , i will try rebuilding all the carbs ,I did check to make sure gaskets on idle circuit side not swelled and did have the proper brown gaskets installed , but so far never seen any accessive flow of fuel down the carbs while running with arrestor cover off, will let you know if I find something, thank you again
