Winterinzing the boat for the first time and going through the Mercruiser Manual. It says to remove the thermostat and fill with antifreeze. I managed to bugger up the spacer and thermostat to get them out.

I was wondering if the spacer and thermostat were common Auto Parts store stuff or do they need to be Mercruiser specific? Also, how much antifreeze do I need? I dumped 2 gallons in and it doesent seem full.

Thanks!!

Did you make sure to drain the block and manifolds first?

If you have everything drained, you do NOT need antifreeze in the block or the manifolds. Air doesn't freeze and crack blocks, only water. Finish everything else, and get the parts you need and install them in the spring.

Ayuh,... They're Mecruiser specfic parts, but some auto parts stores carry those parts,...
Napa does,... Same line as here at iboats...

I do Dry storage, so I can't tell ya about the Antifreeze...
