I just purchased a 99 Merc. 25hp outboard motor. i am wondering how exactly the timing knob works on the front of the motor. i thought this was just a choke and also to increase the idle speed but i think i'm confused on how it actually works. can anyone help me???
The motor runs great when you get going but will not idle very well or sometimes will not idle at all. I have been told that when you pull the knob halfway out you can then turn it left or right to change the idle speed. so when you pull it all the way out is that choke?? should i leave it out while starting or pull it and push it back in?? Please help!!!
