'88 special 88 losing power

HI...thanks for your attention...

My 88 idles great...runs great for about 1/2 hour...goes up on plane and idles alternately just fine...three times now I have taken it for a ride and at the same distance from the doc the motors whines down...and will not recover...it seems like it is running on half the cylinders..l can hear the motor try to catch on...seems like its electrical.....any perspectives are appreciated...thanks

What type of fuel tank do you have, does it have a vent that you have to mannually open, if so make sure it is open. Try squeezing the primer bulb and see if it picks up, checking fuel pump operation. Use an inductive timing light and check spark on all cylinders. If you have spark and proper fuel delivery, it might be time for carb overhaul. You might want to check compression also.

Ignition problems tend to show up once the electrical components reache normal operating temps. Agree with Davet, check the spark when it starts to slow down.
