I've got a 115983e that in one of my other posts tells about trashed gear bushings. Since the prop shaft is blued where one of the bushings was, I'm thinking it was run without oil for some period. Before I get crazy with a rebuild, is there a way to test the oil pump to find out if it got trashed at the same time?

Re: testing electric shift oil pumps

There is a resistance test for the solenoids. What we used to do is drain and refill the gearcase with gear oil Type C only! Put the driveshaft tool on top. Jump the solenoids to activate the pump and turn the driveshaft with an drill to the tool and see if it shifted properly.
Other than that I don't know how you could test the pump.
