Re: Johnson Evinrude 115hp year??
Most crossflows have a round quarter-size casting plug on the top of the block. It is usually painted over, but often contains the model and serial number. The information on this plug matched the serial id tag on the transom bracket when shipped from the factory. The model number is most helpful and indicates all the useful information you need for your engine. Some may have the serial number only. The serial number requires factory information, which is a little more obscure to most of us.
