Re: Prop code

If it is the same size would it work on an 87 50hp evinrude?
From what I am seeing while looking this up, The prop you have might not work because The info keeps saying the prop is for a Bigfoot gear case, And I'm not sure what size gear case your engine has.
Here is where I started looking.

Here is some props for your set up.
http://boatpropellers.iboats.com/Ev...r=1987&**********=536316773&*******=925015220

Here is the merc prop you have now I believe.
http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com/us/vengeance-propeller-10-3-8-x-14-rh-ss-3-bl-p725.html

And if it does fit then you might also need to buy a hub kit to make a merc prop work for your engine in this next link, Depending on what style hub is mounted inside the prop now. It looks like your prop shaft area is a 13 Tooth Spline Small Gearcase.http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com/us/hub-kits-c1851.html Is the hub in side the prop plastic or rubber Ect,???

Re: Prop code

Boat Teck thanks for all your help. I pull the prop off the boat and it is an OMC 390849 12 1/2 x 13 which is listed as stainless but it is painted black. I will be buying a new prop and would appreicate any advice you have. Once again thanks for all your help.

I would half to say one of these props should get you with in what you have now if you are going new, And depending on what kind of money you are looking to spend, Alum, or SS. Take a look at this link.

Questions.

1. What RPM was your engine turning at WOT with your old prop?

2. Did it work well with out any kind of cavitation while running or turning?

3. Do you know what your max rpm should be with your engine? FYI some times there is a sticker on the engine some place that will tell you this info.

4. What is wrong with your old prop? Some times they can be reworked to make them run better or repaired if damaged.

5. Do you want Aluminum or Stainless Steel?

How about mine? Only numbers I can find on it are: 14-1 17 3-19-1
(17 pitch?)
85 Sea Ray 250 Cuddy 260/5.7 My WOT is 2800 with GPS speed of 22 Mph, my goal is a crusing speed of 30 MPH (realistic?) Manufacturers listed weight is 4400 LBS (not sure if that includes engine) Fuel capacity is 75 gallons with an average load of 4 adults (600-800 LBS, hardly ever exceeding 1000 LBS)
I realized my MPG is never going to be great but 75 Gallons for a day (6 HRS) of cruising? Bottom is clean, Trim is optimized, weight moved around, etc, etc. Engine seems to not be at its optimum RMP range, secondarys are open.
Bare with me I am learning... Thanks

Re: Prop code

At WOT I'm running at 5500 rpms

It would canitate when turning and in rough water

The rpms should be between 4500 and 5500 rpms

It seems like I spun the prop. When accelerating it slips, but when I get to WOT it seems to not slip.

I would prefer SS but I will probable go with alumin because I plan to repower by the spring
