1993 evinrude 150 will not get on plane.

I have a 1993 evinrude E150GLETC it will run like a scalded dog when its right.
Right now is not one of those times. I put the boat (Ranger) in with out the plug in (stupid thing to do) it just filled up the back and it did not get on the motor or in the wiring. I started the motor to drain the boat it would only run about 2500 RPMs.It will start just fine and idle but when I put it in gear and open it up it will not run past 2500rpms It over heated once before and would only run slow.but that time I had an alarm.There is no alarm this time. I checked the water pump and it's good and I have good water pressure. I also pumped the fuel bulb while running to make sure it was geting gas that made no difference.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a fuel issue. Has the boat sat up for a while. Could you need a carb cleaning or possibly have a sticking float needle. Could be bad gas...

Grab a 6 gal tank with fresh fuel and oil, see if it runs better, you coulda got water in the main tank.

Check the filter in your water seperator.

The boat has been out five times this year and it ran great everytime.
I will check the fuel seperator tonight. It will be this weekend before
I can try the gas can.If I run it with muffs it will run at higher RPMs
like nothing is wrong.

Most motors with issued will run well on muffs. There is no load on it.

I changed the fuel seperator. It did not look like it had any water in it.
Checked the plugs and found the right side (facing the back of the motor)
is not firing with the motor idling. Runing it on muffs. Is this normal at low RPMs.

check the shift interupter switch.

disconect it see what happens.

checked the switch it was stuck . freed it up and it started working.
Have fire on all 6 cylinders.Going to the lake in the morning to try it out.
