I have a 1996 Evinrude 150 hp outboard engine. When it is held at a constant RPM above 3000 an alarm will sound and it changes into limp mode. If I shut the engine off for a short period of time (5 minutes) it will resume normal operation.

What area might i look into for a solution?

Re: Limp Mode

Ditto, sounds like it is not getting fuel delivery quickly enough, or that a control module might be heating up and throwing it into limp mode.

It is a PITA when an M1 Tank is thrown into limp mode during a battle in Iraq. Happened on one of our patrols. Can still shoot, just not move fast. Kinda scarry....
