Just wondering what is the most memorable boating advice or saying you have ever received? What is that one saying that always sticks in your mind? Especially curious to hear what some of you long time boaters have to say.

For me it would be:

Red Right Return or Don't forget the plug.

Ok, lets here yours now!

I would have to say it was when I first found Iboats and Don S, Tashasdaddy, Boatech, Bond-o, Qc Etc.. All helped me get familiar with my boat and gave me all the manuals that I needed for all my questions, Tune-ups, maintenance, cooling system etc..I will never forget all the help that every one gave me when I want to know my boat inside and out so I could do all my own work on her, Everything I know about my boat is because of them welcoming me and have been on Iboats ever since, And do the best I can to pass on all I have learned and have never forgotten that I was new at one time too:) I try to pass on the example they have showed me.

Never got out of the boat.

You're gonna need a bigger boat.

"Backing into a slip with a 30' single engine is going to be a challenge"

I remember how many times I heard that and how scared I was.

It's a no brainer for me now. :p

Used to always have a hard time remembering port from starboard, and my brother told me this, and I've never forgotten..

"There is no Red Port Left on the boat"

Mine applies to where some boats spend most of their time.

When i was a teen i asked my Dad "How do I tow a trailer"?
His answer "You keep it behind you".

I have found this to be solid advise....

As someone who has had the trailer pass the car I gotta agree :)

I've been saying this a lot to my kids when they move around the boat. It's something I read here on this forum:

"Sailors have two hands - one for the boat and one for themselves."
