low oil light and beep 2004 johnson 90

I have a 2004 Johnson 90 4-stroke. Low oil light and beep sounded the other day....oil was pretty low and had to add 2.5 qtrs to fill(I made sure not to overfill). On startup engine cycles thru checks and low oil light stays on. After riding for a few minutes 10 second beep goes off......I know it has full oil, so what else can be the problem? Do I have to reset the system? if so how do I do that.

Yeh but does it have oil pressure is the question I would be thinking,
all the oil in arabia is no use if the oil pump is burned.
Or it might be a sticky pressure switch.
Or as you theorize, it just needs re-setting.

The 4 bangers being more complicated than the 2 strokes most of us run I'd want some sort of oil guage to monitor and I'd definately invest in the service manual from the dealer. Service manual, not owner manual.

You have a lot more than a oil alarm issue. You need to find out what caused the issue, and fix it. The entire motor may be toast. You might like to take a compression test to see if you still have a viable motor.
