Stalling Problems

Ok... here's the problem... I have a 1998 Sting Ray with a 350 Mercruiser. The motor runs great when idling... it runs great when I engage the gear (at idle speed i.e. the first click forward on the accelerator). However, if I am in gear and barely push the throttle above idle, it stalls immediately (even before the load increases).

This does not happen all the time... sometimes, I can get the boat to go faster than idle if I pump the gas quickly... and every now-and-then it does not happen at all (runs normal). And sometimes it runs rough.

In any case, the most consistent problem is the stall when engaging throttle. *If the boat is not in gear, I can run the RPMs up fine without any problems whatsoever.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this...? Your help is much appreciated, thank you.

Re: Stalling Problems

I forgot to mention something... for as long as I can remember, it has always stalled in reverse (if I give gas above idle speed)... it just started doing this when going forward
