Aluminum Exhaust manifolds

Didn't want to hi-jack the other thread.

I built a SS riser exhaust system that mounts to the stock Merc center riser manifold. My next step is to get aluminum manifolds but they have to have the stock bolt pattern. I have seen the GLM and it has the right bolt pattern. I looked at the Barr and it looked like an older bolt pattern...more rectangular.

I have Full FWC so my manifolds are FWC cooled. I also weld the water passages between the manifolds and riser closed. I have also welded the risers closed but that only stopped part of the water in the cylinder problem, hence the totally water jacketed SS exhaust system.

What I want to know is if there are other aluminum manifolds with the SBC center riser bolt pattern so my SS exhaust will bolt up...other than the GLM.

And any pros/cons on the GLM aluminum manifolds?

Re: Aluminum Exhaust manifolds

One of the causes of water getting into the combustion chamber is the manifold/riser joint. If you weld the water jacket closed in both the manifold and riser, you've cured part of the water intrusion problem.
