New to the forums and would greatly appreciate any help. I have an early 80's 115i6. This has run flawlessly since new except for the usual hard cold starting. Last weekend I had problems. I'll try to describe as well as possible.

Engine fired normal. Ran perfectly for about a mile. While waiting for the slowtoons to get under bridge (gotta love a 10hp on a 20'), engine stumbled and died. Found tank vent had vibrated closed (not much vacuum in tank at all). Pumped ball and re-fired. Ran great for about 1/2 mile and died. Felt like fuel starvation. Did not want to restart. Trolled back to home base on the 8.8. At least I caught a couple of Walleyes on the way.

Pulled cowling and inspected. Found fuel pump bolts to be fairly loose. Suspected vacuum leak around pump base. Tightened pump and ran on ear muffs. Ran great through all throttle ranges. Got back in the water this weekend and all seemed well. Ran perfect for about another 1/2 mile then stumbled and died. Restarted fine but would stumble and die if I tipped into the throttle. Has the same feeling as tank running dry. So far ball has stayed firm except for the first instance.

Is this a fuel pump problem? Wondering if I would be wasting my time rebuilding the pump. Has anyone else had a similar issue? Would love an expert opinion.
