Did Alumacraft make a 12' Model A in 1953 ? I came upon an old 12' Aluma Craft it looked to be about 3' wide and still had the Alumacraft oars and fishing seats in it sitting in a shed. I hope to hear from this fellow this week regarding purchase. The 53 were two of 5 or 6 digits on the transom knee brace.Thanks, Sandusky

One of their standards...certainly offered pre-1950 and through the balance of the decade and into the early 60's at least. I do not have a 1953 catalog or flyer...but know it was in prior to '53 and in my '54 catalog. 49 inches wide, 42 or 43 inches at the transom. A true 14 footer in this era. Later they shrunk to 13 foot 7 inches. Weight in 1954 was 130 lbs. Rated in '54 for a 12 hp motor. Nice boat...I've run it under small power and rowed it quite a bit. Good stable fishing boat for Grandma and the kids! The F, of course, handles more power but for a very nice, forgiving rowboat, fishing boat and small outboard boat...it was a very popular choice. Tough as nails...Model A's were a favorite of resort/rental places. I don't see the A's very often. Hard to pass up nice examples of this marque and era...especially if it has the original aluminum oars.
