I am new here and don't really know much about outboard engines. I have a mid 90's mercury 25 horse motor. When I rev the engine it does fine until about half throttle, then after that it sounds like it is reving louder, but it the boat doesn't go any faster and it doesn't sound as smooth as when running under half-throttle. Also, the when I rev it past half throttle it seems to be a more high pitched rev than when the motor is acting normal. Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated.
