Fogging with no smoke???

Since it's unfortunately getting to be the time of year that we have to think about winterizing I have a simple question about what I've been doing for a few years now. When I spray fogging fluid (CRC engine store fogging fluid from west marine) down the carb I really don't get much smoke. It seems to me that I should expect a giant cloud of smoke to pour out of the exhaust.

So my question is this. If there is not a big cloud behind the boat am I doing it wrong?

if you can smell the sweet fogging oil in the exhaust, you are getting plenty of oil into the engine

Re: Fogging with no smoke???

i usually get smoke, but sometimes the can of fogging oil don't come out fast enough to stall the engine. what i've been doing to cure that is to put the can of fogging oil into a cup. then ya can pour it in at whatever rate is necessary to get it to smoke + stall the engine...
