I have to replace the coil. On my 1987 50hp force. The old coil has 4 wires out of the back(orange, green, brown & blue). They connect to a strip connector on top and the brown goes to a strip that goes to the wire harness to the front of the boat. The new coil instructions say to find the lead wire and attatch to the new coil. The brown wire to the strip/wire harness. Attatches to tack omoter and ignition wire. Has any changed this coil. Please help. The new coil only has a spot for one wire. I am very confused.

Believe you have the wrong coil.

Model number of your motor is important.

If you have a 1987a or 1987b model, you have a breaker point ignition system.

But I believe you have a 1987c model, with the cd ignition.
this requires a cd-coil module, with the 4 wires.
