make sense of acronyms

Gonna sound like a dumbsh!t but can anyone make sense of all the acronyms im hearing. EMF,IMF,OMC,MHO,EFI, etc....I have been hearing these acronyms while asking outboard recommendations and have no idea what they mean, i am assuming its either a model engine or type(not mfg) engine.

EMF - no idea

IMF - no idea

OMC - Outboard Motor Corp. Make Johnson and Evinrudes as well as stern drive (Cobra and the POS Stringer drive).

MHO - no idea

EFI - Electronic Fuel Injection

MHO may be misconstrued to be OHM or ohms which is a measurement of electrical resistance. When someone uses an acronym you don't recognize, don't act like you know what it means. Ask the person. You might be surprised to find that dummy sales person doesn't know either. When you get home, key in the acronym to your browser search window and see if you were told the truth.

Actually MHO is a unit of conductance which is the ability of electrons to pass through a given material. It is the oposite of resistance.

EMF is ElectroMotive Force more commonly referred to as voltage.

IMF could be the Irish Marine Federation (google IMF outboard)
