1974 starcraft bench seat repair

i purchased a 1974 14 foot starcraft boat this summer ,one of the wood bench seats cracked and i want to know what kind of wood to use for this repair , looks easy enough to do just not sure of the type of wood to use ,also want to replace the transome wood this winter and what type of wood should be used for that ,it looks like a 2 by 10 board,as always thanks in advance for the info and help

for the transom you will want good quality exterior plywood (avoid pressure treated if this is an aluminum boat) layered to achieve the thicknes of and original transom. On my 16' Starcraft that was 2 layers of 3/4" ply.
