Hi All,
I have a 1968 Johnson and a 1974 Evinrude,both 6 hp.,that I recently purchased they both run the 68' runs better than the 74',both motors appear the same.Tried to swap lower units around because 68' is ugly and needs new impeller.I can't get either unit back into 68'.With a Flash light it looks like a spring or something like that in the way of the driveshaft from setting all the way into the head,maybe 1"--1 1/2 inch. HELP please.
