When I'm driving the boat pulls to the right, How do I adjust for this. It is a 2002, 90 HP mercury.

Re: boat pulls to the right

There is a trim tab just behind the prop below the cavitation plate. The tab uses prop thrust to counter balance engine and prop torque. Its mounting screw can be loosened and the tab can rotate (at least this is the way it works on my Johnson). In plan view, looking down, the boat wants to go to the right. That means the motor is trying to turn counterclockwise. To get it to counteract this, you have to induce a clockwise pivot, i.e. make the boat go to the left.

To do this, adjust the tap to the right (starboard) of centerline. Centerline reference is propeller shaft.

You may find that it still may pull. Seem that the force from the tab is not linear with the engine torque. Find a position that fits the speed you most often use.

I couldnt have said it any better! I have found that it will pull at different trim levels also, so I set it up on my most often used speed/trim level.
