i have a 1988 evinrude 140 looper and sometimes the qiuckstart will not disengage. most of the time it works fine. i would say 2 out of ten starts it will stay in quickstart . even with engine already warmed up i can turn off the motor and restart and it will continue to stay in quickstart. shut it down and restart again and works fine. could it be a power pack issue.

The port heat sensor is the trigger, the circuit itself is in the PP.

I would verify with a timing light, could be something else too.


Also check yellow/red wire for v , there should only be 12v whilst the starter is engaged.
