repairing floors

I started repairing the floors on my 21' glastron walkaround I have everything apart and found some damage around the some of the stringers I had to remove these foam stripes and was wondering if these are necessary or can I leave them out any advice would be appreciated....

What foam stripes?

You mean floatation?

Sounds like it could use a proper overhaul anyway, a soft spot in the deck is never just a soft spot.

ok the foatation, do I reuse them or is there another foam I can use? I will add pictures later today.
