Finally installed the Fulton Fold Away Trailer tongue hinge on my boat so it will fit in the garage. Its a very very solid hinge and I have no worries about it on the road. Install was pretty straightforward, but takes a while to get all 16 1/2 bolts drilled and tightened. Its also not very easy to tighten the bolts inside the 3x3 trailer tubing. But all in all, a great product that can be installed with basic tools and know how.

What's the best way to cut the tongue? That's the only thing I'm hung up on.

I used a reciprocating saw on my 3x3 galvanized trailer. I used a metal cutting blade (lots of teeth) and it cut right through it no problem. Just make sure and pull your trailer wires out of the way first. Just a thought, if you have a galvanized trailer, might want to spray some galvanizing primer spray over the cuts to keep it from rusting in those areas.

I'd cut it with a cutoff wheel installed in a 4-1/2 inch angle grinder. I use that combo all the time to cut stuff. Makes nice straight cuts.

Can the fulton kit be welded rather than bolted??

Yea, they do offer a weld-on option. Since I don't have a welding machine currently, I would have had to drag to to someone and then pay them to weld it + cutt if off so i figured I'd go with the bolt on version. I'm sure the bolt-on version like this one can also be welded for additional strength.
