mercruiser 470 replacment

i have a 470 that is messed up gaskets are all messed up and head gasket is bad and compression is bad i want to replace it with a different motor. the boat its on is a 19 ft 77 wellcraft i have a 470 out drive i have a mercruiser 120 and i need to know will it fit my stern drive and will the motor be able to mount relitivley close to where the 470 used to mount and i also need to know what other engines can also be mounted to work thanks for your help.

Ayuh,... The 120hp would be the easiest swap,..
Depending on it's Vintage,...
The gear ratio is to high,+ you'll need a small prop....
It'll probably be a Dog...
A 4.3l is a bigger, but more complicated swap,...
Although the gear ratio would be Right, alota other things Ain't...

I'm unclear what is meant by gaskets are are "messed up", but have you checked what it would be $ wise fixing the 470 vs. doing an engine swap? I rebuilt mine for much less than aquiring another engine (that may also need a rebuild). Also, the outdrive that you have may not match well to the replacement engine. Gotta look at the big picture.
