Have a 95' 150 Mercury Black Max....Been making possible knocking noise not too loud but noticeable for three weeks... Would not affect rpms or speed...so I was going to take it in tomorrow to have it looked at...Yesterday, I was running it full out(tournament fishing) and it started making a Loud Clapping noise in the motor with about a second interval between claps... than it started making more noises like metal beating metal noise shortly after that.....I idled back at 1100 rpm's to put it back on the trailer...if i would get any higher than that it would sound like a loud popping noise from one of the cylinders....also had noticeable vibration in gear but not so much at idle....I checked compression at home in all 6 cylinders they were 130,124,122,118,110,105....I'm still taking it in tomorrow ...any ideas of what I can expect them to say? Only had the thing for 7 months........help me please

I expect they are not going to have good news for you. Hard to say until they get it open and see the damage. My guess would be that you've lost a connecting rod bearing.

LOL....J martin....no i didn't...I was just trying to get one more day out of it....it was going in tomorrow either way just really had to fish the tournament....I guess(hopefully) I'll find out soon how much damage it cost...just was trying to get some ideas what to expect I know it's hard to say without hearing it.... does that compression seem terribly off for 95'?

In order to give you any real warranty, a dealer will want a full set of pistons, couple rods, all the bearings to the tune of at least 3 to 3 1/2 (big)

If the crank is hurt, add another 1
