Hello there,
I have a yamaha 80hp (2 stroke) which I think is early 80's. I'm hoping someone can help me out with what model it is. I can't find any identification tags but, on the engine there is a small round silver disk with the number 40016. Below this there is another (not on the silver disk) Y-I 88800, there is also a 70 with a circle around it 34/8 and Torque (30kgm)??. I bought it on the understanding it was an 80hp.Could it be a 70? It has 3 cylinders. I require a new waterpump parts and need to know the exact model I have to order.

I can't seem to attch pic's here, even when reduced but can email to anyone if they reckon the can help here, The outboard cover yamaha logo does look quite dated.

I would bet on a 70hp,never heard of a 80 hp Yamaha,they are great bullet proof motors if you take care of them. Change the impeller and gear lube just to know where you are starting from. I just looked they did make a 80 hp motor.
