miriah boat where is depth sounder

I have a 1996 mariah talari 235. I have looked everywhere for the through hull transducer and cannot find it. The gauge reads 0 most of the time but will ocassionally skip to proper depth. I believe the transducer needs to be replaced or resealled. Does anyone know where I can look for this.thanks deb

My guess is its under the engine in the bilge...Look down there for a black puck lookoing thing with a wire comming out of it.

or,hanging off the transom. with a black wire running to it.
